BOOKS! WE HAZ THEM! Seriously, if the CAPS LOCK didn't singe your eyeballs then it's official, nothing will. I know, right? You're welcome :) Seriously, though, we do have books. I'm going to keep today's post short and sweet. (Shelve your disbelief, people! Some days I can do quick - I just let my fingers run away from my brain and then, wow, before I know it we've got a loooooong intro). *shamefaced look* As I was saying, I'm going to keep today's post short and sweet and remind you of a few things before I introduce the title: If you're a person after my own heart and are constantly looking for new books to read THEN try these:
See? Short! And so, today's list: Top 5 most requested items for May 2012 :)
The Forrests / Emily Perkins
Fiction. Dorothy Forrest is immersed in the sensory world around her; she lives in the flickering moment. From the age of seven, when her odd, disenfranchised family moves from New York City to the wide skies of Auckland, to the very end of her life, this is her great gift and possible misfortune. Through the wilderness of a commune, to falling in love, to early marriage and motherhood, from the glorious anguish of parenting to the loss of everything worked for and the unexpected return of love, Dorothy is swept along by time. Her family looms and recedes; revelations come to light; death changes everything, but somehow life remains as potent as it ever was, and the joy in just being won't let her go.
Fifty shades of Grey / E. L. James
Fiction. When literature student Anastasia Steele is drafted to interview the successful young entrepreneur Christian Grey for her campus magazine, she finds him attractive, enigmatic and intimidating. Convinced their meeting went badly, she tries to put Grey out of her mind - until he happens to turn up at the out-of-town hardware store where she works part-time. Erotic, amusing, and deeply moving, the Fifty Shades Trilogy is a tale that will obsess you, possess you, and stay with you forever.
Mockingjay / Suzanne Collins
Teen fiction. Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has survived the Hunger Games twice. But now that she's made it out of the bloody arena alive, she's still not safe. A revolution is unfolding, and it is up to Katniss to accept responsibility for countless lives and to change the course of the future of Panem.
Catching fire / Suzanne Collins
Teen fiction. By winning the annual Hunger Games, District 12 tributes Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark have secured a life of safety and plenty for themselves and their families, but because they won by defying the rules, they unwittingly become the faces of an impending rebellion.
The Hunger Games / by Suzanne Collins
Teen fiction. Katniss is a 16-year-old girl living with her mother and younger sister in the poorest district of Panem, the remains of what used be the United States. Long ago the districts waged war on the Capitol and were defeated. As part of the surrender terms, each district agreed to send one boy and one girl to appear in an annual televised event called, "The Hunger Games." The terrain, rules, and level of audience participation may change but one thing is constant: kill or be killed. When Kat's sister is chosen by lottery, Kat steps up to go in her place.

Looks like THG & Fifty shades of gray are on their way outta the top 5.
When the rush and the interest dies down for those particular titles, it'll be interesting to see what takes it place. I'd imagine, though, that the release of the next THG movie will see a resurgence in requests and popularity :)
I'm still on the request list for Catching Fire and Mockingjay. Waiting to see if I'll get it through the library or my flatmate first :)
Confession: I have a copy of The Hunger Games. It's never been opened. I bought it when Paper Plus gave a 7 day 30% discount to any and all NZers who fronted up at any of their stores with a library card. I wanted to see how easy it was (wonderfully so, I'm happy to report), and so now have a copy of book 1 that I don't need lol
