"All deep things are song. It seems somehow the very central essence of us, song; as if all the rest were but wrappages and hulls!"
- Thomas Carlyle
I could go on and on about how fantastic it all was (you know I could), but I'm not going to. Instead I've rounded up some tweets that floated across our stream that capture the mood and the feeling of the library gig so much better than I could on any given day. You know that moment when everything comes together and you have the right band, the right crowd and life is good-fantastic-I'm-gonna-be-smiling-for-days? That. So much that. THANK YOU, Auckland, for sharing all of that with us. And, just quietly, thanks Corin (Manager Digital Services, Auckland Libraries) for arranging the library ninja gig. Tres cool, boss man, tres cool :P And thank you to those who allowed me to highlight their tweets :)
Made it to the Auckland Library with a bit of time to spare - cigarette then the NINJA GIG TO END ALL NINJA GIGS.
This tweet? This tweet right here? THAT is what I was hoping everyone else was wanting, too, the NINJA GIG TO END ALL NINJA GIGS. Thank you, @x_chemicalism_x, for putting it in words.
MORE!
If you get the chance I'd really love for you to check out:

Thanks to Dresden Dolls, CorinH, Auckland Library + anyone else who helped make the ninja gig happen! It was amazing!
There was also a seated mosh pit before the seated crowd surfing was tried!
Here's a link to a youtube vid of Dresden Dolls singing Mein Herr at the Central Auckland Library Ninja Gig http://j.mp/yIEece Thanks to whoever shared this!
Lastly both Amanda + Brian wore Auckland Library Ts while signing autographs!
good idea, Kellly M!
Saw Amanda Palmer posted a pic on her blog of the Neil Gaiman books at Unity bookshop. If @neilhimself aka Neil Gaiman reads this and wants to know if Auckland Library has any of this books, the search URL is
http://search.aucklandlibraries.govt.nz/?q=author%3A%22Gaiman%2C%20Neil.%22
(or enter into search prompt: author:"Gaiman, Neil." )
So jealous I could cry! :(
@Kelly - whoa. Scary heh
@Lin - thank you so much for reading/commenting! Was reviewing my own vid footage of the gig and it's not really usable. Heads keep popping up in it in odd places and there's lots of squealing and screaming and laughing. But oh, I wouldn't undo it for anything :) I thought it was just the greatest thing ever that Brian and Amanda were happy just hanging out for a bit afterward and talking with people and just, you know, chilling. It was so cool. So very, very awesome.
@Aimee - I almost *did* cry and I was there :) It was...gah it was one of the most fun-nest things I've ever done in a library. I could oh so easily do something like it again.
I definitely think you should do it again then... but this time on a day I can make it into the library. I am soooo jealous of you all - sounds like it was amazing.
Gutted I missed this. Will be keeping my eye out for other 'events' in the future.
