Manukau Libraries' school holiday programme, 'Rumble in the Jungle', starts today and runs from July 5-16 2010. There are plenty of ways to take your kids on a virtual trip to the wild and wonderful jungle these holidays, so why not try a few of these ideas?
Come to one of our animal-themed events.
From crafts, quizzes and special storytimes to mural-making and movie screenings, we've got something on every day of the holidays, at a branch near you. Check our events calendar if you want to see what a particular branch has on.
Read up on real-life animals and places.
We have plenty of non-fiction books on the jungle and its wildlife, and animals in general:
- Browse children's animal encyclopedias, animal atlases and amazing books of facts
- Browse children's books about the jungle, the zoo or the rainforest
- Browse books on animal-related crafts
- You'll find animal myths and legends around 398.2 on the shelf, including African tales and Native American animal fables
- Jungle jokes, jungle puzzles - even jungle maths!
