Top 5 picture books for kids who don't like bedtime

List by Margaret

"The hardest people to convince they are at retirement age are children at bedtime."
- Shannon Fife

This fun list was submitted by the lovely Margaret and is just perfect for parents, caregivers and guardians who have children that do not like bedtime (I think I was one of these children).

Thank you, Margaret :) If you have a book you think fits this list just right, simply leave your suggestion as a comment.

Bertie at bedtime / Marcus Pfister
Bedtime for Bertie takes time - and a little help from Daddy. Along with bathing and toothbrushing and, of course, the final glass of water and a visit to the bathroom, there are races and chases and games and songs and books to be shared. It looks as if Bertie will never wear out. It's a different story for Daddy! Children - and parents too - will laugh and nod at Bertie's bedtime ritual. The creator of The Rainbow Fish has brought us another irresistible picture book character. Bertie may be a handful, but he's a handful it's impossible not to love.

Cornelius P. Mud, are you ready for bed? / Barney Saltzburg
Cornelius has a special routine to get ready for bed, but one very important thing has to wait until last. There's a new baby in the house, and Cornelius realizes he's not quite ready. This follow-up to "Cornelius P. Mud, Are You Ready for Bed?" is sure to charm all those little piggies who are just a bit resistant to sharing their space. Full color.

How do dinosaurs say goodnight? / Jane Yolen
Mother and child ponder the different ways a dinosaur can say goodnight, from slamming his tail and pouting to giving a big hug and kiss.

One more hug for Nutmeg / Caroline Jayne Churchu
The little mouse Nutmeg goes to bed when her mummy tells her but she can't get to sleep ...perhaps she needs one more blanket, or one more drink? No, what she really needs is one more hug.

Time for bed, Isobel / David Bedford & Leonie Worthington
Isobel doesn't want to go to bed. She would rather stay up with her mom, and so she does. That is until her mom finally pretends to fall asleep first!
